Turn up! 3 ¡s the English course students need to become Creative thinkers from level one. Based on the DGB Program of studies, Turn up! 3 gives high school students the tools to develop 21 st century skills that will enable them to succeed in their careers during the Information Age. Throu- ghout the 4 Blocks established by DGB, Turn up! encourages students to answer questions, ask their own questions and respect the different answers around the theme of the lesson. Turn up! 3 features collaborative learning with Project Based Learning (PBL), a teaching method that prepares students for career, academic and personal success. Every block in Turn up! 3 gives students the possibility of working on a project that engages them in research and in solving a real-world problem. At the end of each Block, students present their own meaningful project in order to demónstrate their knowledge and skills. The benefits of PBL are countless: students foster critical thinking, deep content knowledge, media literacy, and communication skills.
Turn up! 3 also features Benjamín Bloom's classification of levels and learning objectives. This provides a solid foundation for the development of the 4 language skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing and ensures students to go from their lower to higher order thinking skills. Every lesson ¡s built around a level from the Bloom's Taxonomy: remember, understand, apply, analyze, evalúate and create as well as its learning objectives. This design will enable both students and teachers to demónstrate and develop in-depth evaluation.
For teachers, Turn up! 3 is a guidance to become designers through Understanding by Design (Grant Wiggings and Jay McTighe). This framework for improving student achievement will open new paths of reflection and training, as the challenge is to "Start with the end in mind".
